Weddings by the lagoon
There's a hall that seats 350 for dinner, a beach restaurant that does them for up to 400, and a whitewashed village in between that photographs like an island. Your guests sleep here too, so nobody is watching the clock or the car keys.
Honeymoons and quiet escapes
Your own kaliva, a spa open until 22:00, a marina and a lagoon, and no obligation to speak to anyone. There's a catamaran if you feel sociable, and a decent argument for staying exactly where you are.
Big birthdays and anniversaries
A milestone is worth more than a dinner. Take a restaurant for the evening, the beach for the afternoon, and enough kalivas for everyone who matters. The casino stays open late if the night has ideas of its own.
Kids' birthday parties
Club Onos does pool parties, theme parties and astroturf parties, and Chester the Donkey usually turns up. There's a waterslide, a foam pit and Africa's first Skypark within walking distance. Everyone sleeps in the car on the way home.
Baby showers, kitchen teas and gender reveals
Long tables, a view of the water, and somebody else doing the dishes. Book a restaurant or one of the Athene rooms, add the spa for the afternoon, and let the guest of honour sit down for once.
Year-end functions and team celebrations
The Athene Centre holds 500, and nobody has to arrange lifts afterwards because the beds are here too. Put the team on the zipline or the paintball field first, and book by August, because December fills up long before December.
Private events and get-togethers
Some things outgrow somebody's house: reunions, club weekends, birthdays that got out of hand. There's a room for 80, a hall for 500, restaurants of every size in between, and enough beds that nobody has to leave early.
