Most concerts happen on a stage, but this festive season Daniel Baron plays from the deck of the Tropico while it cruises the Langebaan Lagoon.
You board at 18:00 with a welcome cocktail in hand, and the marina slips away behind you. For the next 90 minutes the soundtrack is live, a few metres from where you’re sitting, while the evening light turns the water gold.
There are two evenings to choose from. On 23 December the holiday is just getting going and Christmas is two sleeps away. On New Year’s Day you get the gentlest possible start to 2027, with a cocktail in hand, a crowd small enough to fit on a boat, and a voice that has opened for Bon Jovi. Either way, it’s a properly lekker evening on the water.
Meet Daniel Baron
Daniel Baron is a singer, songwriter and producer with seven SAMA nominations. In 2022 he became a member of the Recording Academy, the organisation behind the Grammys. Hits like Children Of The Sun and Beautiful Noise made his name, and he also writes and produces for other South African artists.

The cruise docks at 19:30, so the whole evening is still ahead of you and your kaliva is a short walk from the marina. The 23rd puts you on the lagoon for Christmas week. New Year’s Day falls on a Friday, which turns the cruise into the start of a long weekend.
